Ideas for Vintage Style Work Wear Separates Featuring Plus Size Bright Color Print Skirt and Magenta Top
Stylish Separates: Magenta Top for Work with Bright Patterned Skirt for Work, a Pretty Plus Size Outfit Idea for Workwear with Vintage Style Elements
Here's the story: I ordered a bunch of dresses from SammyDress.com that were on sale for less than $5. However, I assumed the 39" bust was for under bust and I assumed that fabric would be of stretchy material. I was wrong on both assumptions. The bottom fit quite well, but sadly the top half was no bueno. Regardless, like a modern day MacGyver of Bargain Hunting, I simply cut the top off of the bottom and turned my dress into a skirt.
Why It Works as Vintage Style Workwear for Plus Size
Despite the hiccup with the dress top, the bottom fit well, so I turned it into a skirt. I wore a thick white belt over the waist, so you can't see where I cut off the top of the dress. I like it better this way, in fact, because I like being able to use it as a skirt separate for work. It goes really well with the magenta top I purchased from Target with the very nice wooden bead embellishment along the neckline. with so much color going on in the outfit, I kept the accessories to neutrals: navy headband, navy shores, black leggings, white belt.
Cheap Pin Up Fashion Elements
The top was from Target. I found it in the the clearance section. The skirt, as I mentioned above was from SammyDress.com and was actually a $5 dress that I turned into a skirt. The polka dot headband was from CVS, made by scunci.
Plus Size Pin Up Styling Tips
Not only does the thick white belt in the middle help hide my dress-to-skirt transformation, but it also helps add an hourglass pin up style silhouette to excentuate curves. The bright pattern skirt separate also helps in the tummy area.
